About Geo3D - the Global 3D Geological Library

Welcome to the Geo3D Library, a central hub for publicly available online 3D geological models! Our goal is to provide easy access to all these models on a single, interactive globe. To interact with a specific model, click its label, not directly on the model area.

Using the Library:

• Expanded Panel Mode: With the right-side panel open, clicking a model label opens and highlights the model information, including a link to view it in its respective viewer.
• Collapsed Panel Mode: When the panel is closed, clicking a model label opens the model directly in a new browser tab.

By default, we display 3D geological models published in our integrated Geo3D web viewer. You can also explore over 100 models published in other viewers. To display these models, please tick any of the boxes on the legend that is on the left-hand side of the screen. Once you do that, the list of models in the panel on the right-hand side will also update. You may also click on viewer names to get more info.

For your viewing experience, we offer a choice of base layers in the upper right corner: the default OpenStreetMap, the monochromatic Carto Light, and the colorful OpenTopoMap.

We plan to present a comprehensive collection. If you know of a 3D geological model published online but not included here, please contact us or add it using the buttons in the bottom left corner. Models from Africa, Asia, Middle East, South America and other parts of the world would be more than welcome.

Coming Soon: We are working to enhance the library with search, sort, and filtering options to manage the growing amount of information in the text panel.
